BOL GCA HALLA BOL! HALLA BOL! HALLA BOL!

Dear friends, we have conquered the first fort of our battle, the fight is still on, now we have to prove that we are the best architecture students in the nation and we deserve the cause for which we have been fighting.

"THANKS A TON TO ALL THOSE WHO SUPPORTED OUR CAUSE AND BECAME OUR STRENGTH"

The Following lines are dedicated to all students of GCA for being so determined, for becoming those....

"crazy ones, those rebels & the misfits, those round pegs in the square holes..."

for being not fond of rules, and not respecting for the Status Quo

people have "quoted us, disagreed with us, glorified us and vilified us",

but nobody has been able to "IGNORE US"
because we have changed things, no matter however small or big, we have changed things.

If there is any lesson we would take from our endeavor and remember it for our lives...it will surely be that we are adept to invent, to imagine and explore, maybe inspire...

"because we are the crazy ones, because we think different."

For us, for everyone who is crazy enough to think, he/she can change the world, becuase probably they are the ones who really do...

here is the original inspiring apple campaign visual:

This is also a tribute to Steve jobs who died on 5th October 2011, he was one of the unique visionary of tech world who inspired a generation from his novel ideas about design and technology oriented ideology , and his words will keep inspiring many to come.

We are Ashamed to be part of a Nation which disrespects Students, their rights and Education

तार तार हुई मानवता और शिक्षा तथा शिक्षक की पदवी |

DAY 3 Hunger Strike: GC A Campus
Nobody is concerned about the lives of 5 students, still authorities are acting casual and can't they even come and listen to our plight?
Is there no value of lives of students that are the future of this nation?
Is this a democracy? Is this a country one should be proud of being a citizen?
We are ashamed to be part of the system where the person who should be concerned the most cant even listen and understand the problems of his students, where the lives of 5 students are at stake and even then that person talks about files and holidays? Is there anything called humanity that exists within that person? Is there any humanity anywhere ? And can a person at such a respectable position of a teacher be not moved by the students who are dying...in front of that person?

Today the respected profession of education and teacher has been shattered when a teacher has called police force to keep away the students? What kind of a teacher would call police to mediate between the students and him?

We are ashamed to be part of a system that is morally so corrupt and so impotent that it can't even respect the rights of students? The central education minister tweets about right to education, but is he even humane enough to realise the real feeling of education?
Everyone is concerned about money and nobody gives a damn. They talk big, real big! All those people full of filth sitting on foamed sofas in air conditioned rooms and power chairs...they don't even know how they are moulding the whole society, for the bad.

A country where education is on the least & last priority. A nation where  teaching considered a 3rd class profession in our country? Why ? Aren't teachers, students  and education the backbone of our society? Shouldn't the best people in any profession be involved into something as holy as teaching and education ?

This is not an issue of just 300 students, this is an issue of the whole education system that is suffering due to administrative and political problems like these. These are the issues that keep the national talents to search outside the nation and then we blame ourselves and each other for lack of the creative people in our nation. The problem lies within us, we have to acknowledge that until and unless there are strong reforms and seriousness given to education, we should not hope for making our nation stand among the very best.

If anyone is there who understands this, listen to lakhs of silent souls that perish every year in this machinery of unnecessary competition and aimless products yielded by the monster that our education system has eveolved into.

We are sorry, but until and unless our education system evolves, reforms and revolutionizes, until and unless the custodians of the education (the ministers, the teachers and the people) are responsible enough, we  will always feel ashamed as a citizen of a nation where teaching is considered as the last career option and students are considered as the least important people.

Is there anyone listening? if yes, will you still sit & watch?

“Architecture Students Take Up A Hunger Strike Heavily Traumatized By The Authorities’ Indifference”

·         The students are heavily traumatized by the indifference shown by the caretakers of the students’ future, and the custodians of the education, who have ruthlessly played with the students trust on the education system,  which, has reached to a ramshackle  state to such an extreme extent that the students are ready to bleed and die of hunger whatsoever. They hence take a step forth , but not , swiveling from their “Gandhian path”  , they adopt his path and sit for an indefinite hunger strike!!! They are playing with their lives , their future which in itself is in grave darkness…..even now if the authorities are silent, they are committing a crime, they are being  inhuman ......

Architecture students took to cleaning streets as a taunt to the "Slumber Stricken" Authorities!!!!

ARCHITECTURE students took to cleaning streets of Hazratganj and Vidhan Sabha , as a moral citizenship responsibility for social welfare , thereby making an attempt to , proliferate our cause of strife to avail our right of registration by the Council of Architecture. The 300 students procuring valuable technical education, but deprived of their right, wanted the seveirty of their plight to reach the authorities concerned.
The media captured and published our approach such as the print media to the best of their effort, like "Aaj", "Amar Ujala", "Daily News", "Hindustan Times", "Hindustan (hindi), "I-Next", "Lokmat", "Nispaksh Pratidin", "Pioneer (English, Hindi)", "Rashtriya Swaroop", "Sahara", "Spashta Aawaaz", "Swatantra Bharat", "Tarunmitra", "You for Youth", "United Bharat", "Voice of Movement", and electronic media like "Etv", "P7 news", "Sahara Samay", "Saadhna t.v", "Aap ki aawaz", "Aaaj ki Khabar", "News 18", "Tv 18", "Ab Tak", "TV 18", "Ab Tak"!!!
We thank you for your support and hope that the same shall proliferate further!!!!

Cleaning Campaign Successful!

More than 150 students took part in cleaning hazratganj campaign as a social cause to raise their voice

Students take up Social Work to Raise their Voice

The students of Faculty of Architecture G.B.T.U Lucknow, the only government established , prestigious institute of the Uttar Pradesh state are facing the grave situation of being unregistered by the Council of Architecture , which renders the students to be non-eligible for any professional use of the education , which they toil hard and receive in 5 years. The point becomes all the more valid since we were not informed by the authorities about the situation prior to admission.

For the same notion the students have been striving for their cause  since past 9 days , have boycotted the classes, they have protested as a procession and “dharna” on 22nd September 2011 have been contacting every official and authority, but in vain and no response.
   The question is :-
Should the students, not at fault, suffer for the carelessness on part of the authorities?
Should the students be deprived of their of their right?
Shouldn’t the authorities be questioned and alleged  for the same instead of depriving the students of their right?
Who is at fault, the poor students or the authorities ?

"
Since the students have done their best to raise their voice for the same but received no results, they took a further step by taking up a social task to raise their voice to the authorities and the people . The students took up the task as responsible citizens and paying duty to their city as budding youth and architects, students cleaned up the zone (roads and footpaths) from Vidhan Sabha to Hazratganj today i.e. on 29th September 2011 with full vigour. The Campaign lasted for 4 hours starting from 9:30 am and ending at 1:30 pm in the afternoon. During this time many people became curious and asked about our cause. Many of them were very positive and showed their support by signing our memorandum of Appeal (more than 100, adding to an already existing 500 supporters list) and assured to help us in any possible way. Many came forward with water bottles to quench the thirst of students who were busy cleaning. It was a mass phenomenon and everyone seemed to be supporting us for our cause."
  •       This was a very commendable experience for all the students and we will continue our movement to raise our voice through social causes.
  •       We again appeal to all the citizens to kindly support us in reaching our voices to the higher authorities.
  •       We would again state that our motto is Council of Architecture registration, and the movement that has been initiated shall not rest until we avail “concrete” results.

Architect registration is our identity.

We Sit To Stand Together

Under the scorching heat of the sun,
We sit to stand together
For the cause, the real and genuine cause
We hold our hands together

I remember the day it started
Hundreds of faces, some known, some unknown
Everyone with the same hope, sitting for the same cause
I wonder how could one firm smile,
Give so much inner strength.

I’ve been watching some faces,
Rushing in the quest of “our identity”
Whose full strength lies in “Us”
And ours lies in them

The older this movement grows,
The stronger it makes us.
I now believe that
The play of light and shadow will go on.
But we will not stop till the goal is reached.
Till the voice of silence reaches ”the concerned ears”,
Till then, we will hold our hands together.
And we will sit to stand together
-Jijivisha

The Words of Silence

It has been quite some time, but I remember vividly the fine morning when I entered through a rather shabby looking entrance gate to a place about which I had heard a lot and thought a lot too. It was to be the place from where I would garner some knowledge that I would eventually put to use, I imagined myself to be a practicing architect and that imagination made me happy.
I was happy…

"Architecture" inherent even in our cause!!! .....updates for 24 September 2011

Today,  on the sixth day of our initiation, and hereby proceeding on the same grounds, we students, again boycotted the classes.
Though, we students have been  boycotting  the academics yet we do not take back our stand on architectural/ creative efforts. For the same, we involved ourselves in caricature art, write-ups etc. that can be viewed ,as our "creative endeavours" tab in the same blog.In addition of the same, one of our students’ team is involved in architectural documentation competition funded by UNESCO

Cartoonscape buzzing at GCA!!

While I Hang In The Balance…

I sit through the day with my family, my college mates; seniors, juniors everyone alike and together. No discretion or discrimination; for we all are united in our resolve and intent. We aim at only the bird’s eye and for us it is defined by registration by the Council of Architecture as Architects.

Inherent creativity brought to light, during our plight !!!...........

We speak of our plight through creative might.
Do check out some of the innovative and creative caricatures that we have made as a part of the various creative events and design competitions we organize while we sit through the day in support of our cause. We clearly refuse to let anything encumber our creative spirit and zeal.

DAY 5 - QUEST FOR C.O.A. REGISTRATION

When the sun can be incessant for its purpose, to rise and to give light, why can’t we? Hence, in continuation with our quest we students sat peacefully on our campus grounds today, boycotting our regular classes for the 5th consecutive day.
Though our stand is peaceful, we do not shy away from creative endeavors. And we got ourselves involved in caricatures, write-ups, poetry etc. in addition to other architectural attempts. The students sat fast and determined through the day with only one thought on their minds; Council of Architecture registration.

The Unforgettable Fight

“Life is a struggle” we all “usually” talk about it. But in this time and day, we get some rare chances when we actually feel it. Making hearty efforts for a goal and finally attaining it, gives a great feel of satisfaction to all of us. Difficulties join a person from the day he is born and last till his end, but a true man is one who overcomes his limitations and fights for himself. This fight’s stamina strengthens when we are fighting for our rights, our belongings, our pride and above all, our identity.

Silence That Speaks

I was waiting so eagerly for the SEE result, and now it’s time. The result has been declared and I am so happy to be a part of GCA; The oldest and the only government college in the state. But the thing that was the cherry on the cake was that I was going to pursue education in that college from where my dad had completed his education. He was in the last diploma course batch of the college, this added to my excitement.

Silence is More Than Just Golden

Never before in my life had the importance of silence and patience dawned on me in the truest sense. The past few days have been a great teacher in this regard. They have made me believe that silence has more power than we give it credit for. Right from the very first day that we all stood together for our cause to the present scene, my belief in the fact that silence, in its purest and most peaceful form is productive, is going from strength to strength. It has the power to set things in motion in a way that may be hard to imagine, but not as hard to believe. Seeing things happen right before my eyes and at an astonishing pace, has changed a major part of my thinking. Our silence has helped us achieve a lot so far, yet we have a long way to go. The path that we have chosen may be tough, but we are prepared for it all, owing to our undoubted spirits. We stand by each other and sincerely hope that what is rightfully ours is given to us. The haze that clouded the vision of a bright future is beginning to lift and will definitely clear out.
- Indigo Suburbia

OUR MOVEMENT TURNS INTO AN EVENT

Moving forth in the same direction we, the students of Faculty of Architecture had an onset of a peaceful march on 22 September 2011 at 11:00am from Butler Park, Qaiserbagh via Parivartan Chowk finally assembling in a peaceful congregation at the Jhulelal Park, Dharna Sthal where we made a silent demonstration in form of a “dharna” till 5:00 pm in the evening.
With high spirits and astounding rigour we students stood fast in a peaceful manner. We put forth our request and appeal to all the media personnel and authorities who visited us at the site. There was excitement and indignation in the eyes of every student, but a determined and peaceful demeanor was all that came out of it as we stood fast on our resolve to fight for our rights peacefully. We proliferate our cause with zeal and fervor. All of us were dressed in white, an army of peace and determination in search of their identities, having a strong and united motto.

Registration with the COA – A Student’s Perspective

On that 1st day of college, when being registered as the students of the first year, batch 2009-2010, the principal of the college, entered into  a three hour long discussion with us regarding some questions put up by some of the inquisitive (and probably more informed) students among us. The gist of the lecture was why the college, despite producing some of the finest and most capable architecture graduates of the country every year, was not getting registered with the Council of Architecture.

Read Our Silence

The Day it started…
It was a day, 19th September, along with the rise of the sun, rose a new issue which is as important as water for the fish, bread for the man; a very serious issue for the livelihood of the upcoming “Architects”. The issue is so serious and sophisticated as it is linked and co-related to the future of innocent lives. The issue is Architect Registration by the Council of Architecture.

Days to Remember

The day I remember was 30 July 2010, I urging my father on phone to go to the place and have a look at the college, which college; GCA.
My father was in Lucknow due to some office work and I was allotted Faculty of Architecture in the GBTU counseling After my father came back, he told me about how small the college campus was, even smaller than my school campus. He argued with me trying to persuade me to join B.Tech in Mumbai the place where he’d done his graduation. But I was adamant about joining B.Arch.

The Second day proceedings and media coverage........20th September 2011

As we continue on the second day 20th September 2011, too with our incessant effort to avail our basic right,we did not attend the classes and collected at the college campus and sat there in peaceful protest . The permission to legally portray a presentation and silent march had been in process, while the media got concerned too and approached us in the college campus . The entire day went in students silently, being involved in creative efforts such as caricatures, slogans, poetry, write-ups and being involved in architectural competition activities etc.: hence we mention that though not attending the classes we could not dampen our creative spirits and did our best to give impetus to our talents.

News proceedings as per the first day of the onset of the event.

As the onset of the peaceful protest has begun, we hereby inform that the event started taking shape from 19th September ’11 as we students of Faculty  Of Architecture, G.B.T.U Lucknow, collected at the Laxman Park, on 19th September’11 in the morning and did not attend our classes which we deemed as worthless until we avail registration from the Council Of Architecture. Our respected Dean and some members of the faculty approached to coerce us to attend our classes yet we decided not to deter from our cause and endeavour, and have continued with the same.

Caricatures by Students pronouncing our Right of Registration

Memorandum of Appeal
(brief)

The Issue:
We, the students of Faculty of Architecture (admitted to the institute during and after the session 2005-06), Gautam Buddha Technical University, Lucknow, do solemnly put forth our problem and situation of being declared “not to be registered” by the council of Architecture.

·      This bars us from using the title “Architect” (as per Architects Act, 1972)
·      The Council of Architecture is a statutory body constituted by the Government of India, under the provision of Architects Act, 1972.
·      The Council clearly states “Any person desirous of carrying on the profession of 'Architect' must have registered himself with Council of Architecture”.
·      The registration by the council is essential to:
1.       Practice the profession of architecture (from signing construction documents to running architectural consultancy)
2.       Employment with various government and private bodies
3.       To pursue & to apply  for higher studies in architecture,
4.       To apply and to hold the positions of teachers, professors etc. to impart architectural education
5.       In effect it renders us unable to practice this profession in any and all of the professional prospects.

Memorandum of Appeal

Memorandum of Appeal

Subject: Appeal to avail the registration of the students by the Council of Architecture as the basic and legal right of students, the same being currently impeded.

This is to bring to immediate notice that we, the students of Faculty of Architecture, Gautam Buddha Technical University (hereinafter G.B.T.U.), Lucknow, are facing a very grave situation regarding our future. The problem is of being declared “not to be registered as Architects” by the Council of Architecture (hereinafter referred to as the Council) (via the letter no. CA/5/Academic-UP01, dated 21 august 2009).This bars us from using the title “Architect” (as per Architects Act, 1972) which is essential in practice of architecture, employment with various government and private bodies and to pursue for higher studies and teaching assignments. In effect it renders us unable to practice this profession in any and all of the professional prospects.

Onset of the peaceful procession to reclaim our right to registration as architect by the COUNCIL OF ARCHITECTURE.

As lives move forth a destiny unknown, yet a vista of the future is visible ......but for us students, our future as architects is obscure as we are unaware whether we shall be able to make our mark in the society with a designation we strive to avail, toiling hard for five years, to ultimately have a blank face to be called "an unregistered architect"!!!
Our fortune lies athwart in such dilapidated condition that we are unsure whether the commendable education that we have been having  for a long time , comes out for no use since the COUNCIL OF ARCHITECTURE declares  us unregistered due to which our every endeavour , in respect of being an architect goes unauthenticated!!! Alas.....we innocent students and our career has no authentication!!!
We are the students of a very prestigious government college, and have proved our mettle in every architectural or non-architectural endeavours, university examinations and other national or regional competitions ......we are nowhere behind.......then why are we disqualified for an authentication in the name of "Registration"????
Putting forth the same inquisition, we hereby are to commence a "peaceful protest" and demand our basic right to registration from the council of architecture as innocent students demanding our right and asking for nothing more.............
It could be a long way to go and we need a togetherness......a strength and spirit to proceed ..........
We wish, hope and pray that all our efforts will bring forth some solution to this grave problem where the future of nearly 300 or more students is at stake, which on humanitarian grounds is purely unjust.........
The saga shall begin to avail a basic right.........
